Toilet on Elevated Platform
Hello! My wife and I recently bought a cape cod built in 1940 and the toilet in the upstairs bathroom is on a 10ish inch elevated platform. I would love to get the toilet down to floor level, but was wondering why it might be elevated and wanted to get some thoughts before I started tearing into the floor.
Re: Toilet on Elevated Platform
Most likely the toilet is elevated to accommodate some kind of pipe-work between the raised floor and the original floor. I think the only way you would find out is to take it apart. Just be prepared to rebuild the platform in case you can't (or don't want to) deal with a possible "can of worms" that you may find.
