Mystery thing on house

This thing is mounted on the front of my garage just above the floodlight. We just move here and have no idea what it is. The house was just painted and the painters just went right over it. I haven’t tried pulling it off yet to see what’s under it. Any ideas? Thanks.

So, to follow up, half the mystery is solved. It’s the bottom of a 2 liter soda bottle!!! If you zoom in you can actually see the little recycle symbol. Why it’s there is still unknown as I have not yet pulled it off to look under it. We will be doing some work on the garage soon that will involve replacing some siding, so we will take it off then to see if whatever is under it can be removed and the siding patched. Stay tuned.

It could be covering up a hole left by something that was vented to the outside. An old heating stove?

Please update the thread when you remove the soda bottle. We also want to know why it's placed there.
