Finding information on an old house

Post by WillowHouse »

Hello all,

I am new to this site and forum. I am searching for information about my house. I know it was built in 1910. I can't find a record of ownership before 1999. I love our old house but I'm curious as to it's history. Does anyone know how I could find such things? Blueprints? Photos? How has the house changed in the past 112 years? Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,
James B.

Not sure what you mean you can't find a record of ownership before 1999. You should be able to search the deed records and find all of the prior owners back to 1910.

Hi James! I actually do just this for a living - genealogical research generally but specifically finding information for Old House owners on the previous owners and their lives. Every house and area varies in what records are accessible, but in general for that age house it should be possible to get a full deed chain and go from there in discovering wonderful stories about the life your home saw before you. Feel free to message me if you'd like to chat about what I can offer and fees, and to see a sample of what I've put together for past clients. :)
