I also located a downloadable of the original patent application, interesting stuff.
The board may or may not be original. The house I'm working on was built by a master carpenter sometime in the late 40's or early 50's, and based on what else I've discovered about his talents he may well have made the board.
In any event, it looks very good and works excellently.
I have no idea what it might be worth, but I'm willing to look at offers.
Also with the assembly is the black spring steel support that holds the board in the horizontal position.

Yep.
http://www.google.com/patents?id=-YNmAA ... &ct=result

If that doesn't work, just google the patent number and then look for the hit from Google Patent results.

4 years later and I am looking for a broad to put back into the cabinet that my Siblings removed 30 years ago. Spanish home in Los Angeles, CA built in 1925 and the cabinet is great just missing the broad and hardware, did anyone ever find out if this was still around? The new ones are nice, however this cabinet is naturally built into the wall and it would be a shame to not use it. I still iron my dress shirts and pants.

You can use any pine board that is free of knots. Cut it to shape and buy a new ironing board cover for it.

The board that you choose should be at least 1 inch thick. Thicker if the cabinet can accomodate it.

You could probably just by a 2 x 12 at home depot and cut it down for use in the cabinet.

Just remember, - no knots.

Good luck.

HI,
I am here for the first time.I am tearing out old plaster/slat walls in my recently purchased house in Greenville,PA to put in new drywall and I have just removed a built in (the wall) ironing board. The sticker is still on the underside of the ironong board. It is named, The New "ON A WALL" Ironing Board. It serves a double purpose, as an ironing board as well as a breakfast or utility table. My house was built in 1939 and the wall unit was added sometime after that. I have not done too much research on the unit but the sticker indicates that this unit had a patent applied for by the manufacturer, Farley & Loetscher Mfg. Co. , Dubuque, Iowa, USA. I would think that this unit is probably from the 1950's (or possibly even from the forties?)
I don't know if you found what you were looking for but I am wanting to sell this unit. It Is complete (even with 5 to 6 covers all over top each other. I did not disassemble this, just detached it from the wall. There are several coats of paint on it , and it is in very good condition, I would have to believe that the wood is very beautiful under all that paint. I just don't want it on my kitchen wall, or actually anywhere as of now? If you are interested or know of anyone that may be, you can email me at hrn012361@gmail.com and I can send photos. Thanks and have a great day. Harry

HI just found this post, I realize it has been years since it was started, I always wondered that this beautiful shaped part was and now I know it was the support to the ironing board! thank you, I now also thanks to the posters have the patent information. Mine is more of an oval shaped and it says that the circle may vary! I love it as architectural interest, but at the same time would be interested in selling the part if someone really wanted it.. thanks for the knowledge as well as a patent to go along with it.

My gosh, I couldn't live without my ironing board. And if you need one, don't even think about buying a new one, they are terribly wobbly. Find one at a garage sale or estate sale, the sturdy metal or wood ones! Mine is up all the time as my entire wardrobe is cotton, wouldn't wear poly if you paid me, and I cannot afford to dry clean anything but hubby's suit. Also, I sew, and an iron is very necessary for that!

I have one of the fold up cabinet ironing boards that we removed from our first house. I was always going to install it at "our next house", but we are still moving it from house to house, maybe the next one, ha!
