Most calthas can be used near water and range in height from 6 to 36 inches. They can be divided in March or July and are spaced 18 inches apart.

Caltha palustris--Marsh Marigold Marsh Marigold produces 2 inch yellow flowers from mid- April to June. The plants tolerate sun or shade but in the sun they must have a moist soil. They prefer a wet, acid soil and can be grown near water.
