Chiondoxa flowers early and is planted 2 inches deep and 3 to 4 inches apart. The blue flowers are borne on plants 6 to 9 inches tall. The plant is useful for naturalized settings. A light mulch is beneficial in winter. The plants grow in sun or partial shade but the flowers last longer in partial shade. Any ordinary garden soil is sufficient.

The bulbs are planted in August or September.

The bulbs multiply rapidly and are divided after the foliage has matured.
