Gas Plant produces flowers in shades of white, pink and purplish brown. Both flowers and foliage are quite fragrant. The plant grows 2 to 3 feet high and is not easily transplanted once established. Seed pods can be used for winter decoration. The plant grows best in full sun or partial shade and in a well-drained soil.

Propagation is by root cuttings or seed. Plant seed outdoors in the fall but it may take 4 years to get a blooming size plant. Root cuttings may be difficult to do. Cut the fleshy roots into 3 inch lengths and insert then into pots of sandy soil. When root and shoot formation have occurred, put the plants in the garden.
