Dog Injury

By The Old House Web

Injury by dogs to lawns will appear as dead brown areas, roughly six to twelve inches in diameter and surrounded by bright green, thick, lush turf.

Male dogs will also damage trees, shrubs and flowers by their urination. Soil beneath affected plants will have a strong ammonia smell. Plants die due to overfertilization from the nitrogen in the urine. The best control is to flush the soil with water to dilute and leach the urine.
