Straw flowers have a straw like texture when they are dried. They grow best in full sun and a light well drained soil. Cut flowers for drying in the bud stage or just as they open. The plants grow one to two feet tall and are spaced 10 to 12 inches apart. Flowers to be dried are tied into small bunches and hung heads down in an airy place until dried.
The seed germinates in one to two weeks at 70 degrees and it needs light to germinate. The plants are either direct seeded into the garden or started indoors.
