The iberis are small shrubs that spread into mats bearing dark green foliage and white or purple flowers. These broadleaf evergreens may be used in rock gardens, borders or as edging or ground cover plants. They give best growth in full sun and a moderately rich, moist soil. A protected site is recommended as the foliage may windburn in winter. Iberis are not long lived in shade or in wet soil. Shear the plants after flowering to make them grow more compactly.

Propagation is by seed, softwood cuttings, and division. Softwood cuttings are taken in summer and division is done in fall. The seed germinates in 2 to 3 weeks at 65 to 70 degrees.
