Spicebush is so named because of the aroma it gives of if any part of the plant is broken. This is a large shrube that can reach a height and spread of about 10 feet. The plant will grow in shade but as with many plants will fail to develop good fall color or density. In the sun the leaves will turn yellow in the fall. The flowers are not significant. Spicebush is considered difficult to transplant but has few serious disease problems.
