Mowing Height -- Fall/spring

By The Old House Web
There is some belief that lawns should be mown higher in the fall and spring. Research at the University of Illinois and other Land Grant institutions shows little change in turf density or color by raising the mowing deck. Maintain turf at the same mowing height throughout the year.

Lawns should be mowed at their correct height throughout the year.

Research does indicate that taller grass usually correlates with a deeper root system. Closely mown grasses tend to be thicker and dense, but their root system tends to be shallow making plants more susceptible to hot, dry weather.
