Nannyberry

The nannyberry or sheepberry is known botanically as Viburnum lentago. The shrub is often grown as an ornamental for its white flowers borne in late May. The oval, black berries persist into winter and are often used as food by birds.

The fruit is sweet enough to be eaten raw. It can also be used in sauce or preserves after the seeds are removed.
