Pulmonaria
The pulmonarias are low growing, shade tolerant plants that can give early season flower displays. They may be given some consideration for use as ground covers.
Pulmonaria angustifolia--Blue Cowslip, Lungwort Lungwort grows 12 inches tall and produces blue flowers in early spring. It is an easily grown plant tolerating sun or shade and any ordinary soil. Planting may be done in spring or fall. Set the plants 6 to 10 inches apart. Division may be done in the fall or spring.
Pulmonaria saccharata--Bethlehem Sage This pulmonaria has pink or white flowers and foliage spotted with silver. Division can be done in the fall or spring.
