Bird of Paradise is not easily grown. It can get quite large and is not easy to get to flower. Provide bright light and a well-drained soil. Allow the plant to dry slightly between waterings but give more water in summer and less in winter. Growing the plant outdoors during the summer increases the likelihood of blooming. Use any house plant fertilizer according to label directions. Ideal temperatures are 75 degrees during the day and 60 degrees at night. The plant does best when potbound.
Propagation is by division.
