Spiderworts produce white, red, purple, lavender, or pink flowers over a long period of time. They prefer a moist soil with average fertility. Soil too damp, or too rich, causes plants to flop over. The plant grows in sun or partial shade but prefers partial shade. After flowering they may be cut back promote new foliage and possible reflowering in early autumn. Plants finished flowering may create a poor appearance.

Propagation is by division in the spring.
