Canadian hemlock may be one of the most beautiful conifers with its soft, green needles attached to arching branches. The tree will grow 55 feet tall and spread 30 feet. It is hardy to zone 3 and will grow in dry or moist soil. Canadian hemlock is tolerant of shearing and can be used in large, sheared screens.

Cultivars include: 'Bennett' - globose habit, branches weeping at the tips, dark green, grow in partial shade, 3 foot height and spread; 'White Gentsch' - a rounded, flattened dwarf, the foliage is white at the tips, 4 feet high and wide.
