Viburnum prunifolium--Blackhaw, Stagbush
Viburnum prunifolium--Blackhaw, Stagbush
Blackhaw can be grown in sun or partial shade and is more tolerant of dry soil than other viburnums. The plant is 10 to 15 feet tall and spreads 8 to 12 feet. The shrub transplants well but grows slowly and is often bare at the base. The small, white flowers are borne in late spring after the leaves. The edible fruits are dark blue, oval and held erect. The fall color is deep, dull red.
