Viral Leaf Diseases:

Viral Leaf Diseases:

Mosaic: The leaf symptom is a pattern of light and dark green areas giving a mosaic effect in infected leaves. Mosaic is caused by virus infection of the entire plant. The virus infection usually shows no noticeable symptoms until cool weather, which favors the virus disease more so than warm weather, brings out the leaf symptom. The entire plant is always infected, however, and will grow less vigorously than an uninfected plant under the same conditions. Some virus infections are unavoidable, but many are the result of carelessly using infected plants for propagation.

Control: No chemical or cultural control can cure a virus disease, so avoid them by buying the healthiest plants available from the highest quality nursery in your area. Never buy plants showing mosaic or mottle symptoms.
