Bathroom Sinks: Glass and gold

Metal leaf and other pigments make these glass sinks individual works of art. Shown here is the "Samarkand," which is offered in silver, copper and gold, and in two sizes. The large sink is 18-1/2" in diameter and is fabricated with 3/4" thick glass. The small sink is 16" in diameter with 1/2" glass.

Because the sinks are glass, they can not endure temperature extremes, switching from hot to cold water too quickly, for example. For cleaning, the manufacturer recommends a non-abrasive cleanser. A complementing bronze pedestal can be purchased for use with this sink. Price for the sink is about $1,300 (March 2005).
