Bathtubs: Porcelain beauties

Solid porcelain vintage tubs can be difficult to find. Because they are so heavy, they are often destroyed and removed in pieces, rather than salvaged, during remodeling. But this California company has a large stock of these lovely older tubs, like this left-corner, 60" model.

Solid porcelian offers a glassy smooth surface and the bonus of never rusting. Abrasive cleansers won't deplete or diminish the shine. The tub pictured here weighs in at about 900 pounds. This tub carries a price tag of $5,995 (July 2004) and includes original free-standing plumbing hardware (faucet and drain).
