Coal Stoves: Model 983 Coal Fireplace Insert

Reviewed by:
The Old House Web
Two recessed blowers channel the high heat produced by this coal burning firebox back into the house, rather than up the chimney. Available as an insert or freestanding unit, the Model 983 will heat up to 3,000 square feet.

An 11 gauge steel shroud keeps the exterior from becoming burning hot. A glass door permits viewing of the glowing anthracite coal.

Options include a gold door (as shown), a brass shroud trim, and color choices of black, brown, or green.
