Countertop Materials: A copper or two

Hammered copper repousse tiles can create a beautiful and functional countertop or backsplash in your kitchen. Choose from several patterns such as square rose (shown in photo), oak leaf, gingko leaf or dogwood blossom. Finish options for the 6" square tiles are light, medium (photo) or dark antique or nickel plating.

Finishes are hand applied, so color and sheen variations will occur. A hand-rubbed wax coat is applied by the manufacturer and re-waxing is recommended every six months. Copper is naturally antibacterial and easily cleans up with a mild soap and soft cloth. Price is $36 for repousse tiles or $22 for plain tiles (December 2004).
