Countertop Materials: Recycled countertop

Manufactured in the U.S. with 100% post-consumer recycled glass, IceStone countertops are eligible for LEED (Green Building Rating System) qualification. The product's ingredients include 75% recycled glass (bottles and dishware) and 25% cement and other binding agents.

According to the manufacturer, the countertop can be measured, cut and installed like stone. Thicknesses range from 1-1/4" to 2", and the surface is heat resistant and pressure rated at 2,000 pounds per square inch (stronger than marble). Installed prices range from $85 to $125 per square foot (March 2005).
