Countertop Materials: Solid choices

Low-maintenance, solid acrylic countertop from Staron is offered in 50 colors with eleven edge treatments and a variety of patterns. This anti-bacterial, heat-resistant surface can be thermoformed (bent with heat) and is offered in matte, semi-gloss and high gloss finishes. Because it is a solid material, surface damage can be sanded out with a high grit sandpaper. Available in 1/4" and 1/2" sheets, it's offered in 145" lengths and 30" widths, but seams will disappear after installation. Price is about $35 - $55 per square foot. December 2004.
