Fencing: Shang Gate

As a fencing material bamboo has as much strength and flexibility as similarly-sized hardwoods. When exposed to the weather, this privacy Shang Gate will change from yellow/green to gray and after six to 12 months. An oil-based sealer or stain can be applied to its surface.

Bamboo is not suitable for direct ground contact, as it will eventually rot. Fence sections are sized at 4' by 4' to 6' by 6' and prices range from $49 to $105 (October 2004).
