Floor Cloths: Art to walk on

Reviewed by:
Rosemary Thornton
Floor cloths were first used hundreds of years ago, when houses had dirt floors. Made of canvas, these contemporary floor cloths do best on hard, level surfaces (such as wood or concrete). Several layers of primer and acrylic paint are applied to create the floor cloth. The artwork is protected with a water-based sealant, which can be cleaned with a soft cloth and mild soap. The edges of the canvas are hemmed (to protect against fraying). All products used in the production of these floor cloths are water-based and environmentally friendly, according to the manufacturer.
