Space-saving efficiency and top-mounted controls make the SR-6 an good choice for adding radiant heat to smaller rooms, even bathrooms.

Like all of the Empire vent-free heaters, it runs on natural gas or liquid propane. The slightly larger SR-10 (manual) and SR-10T (thermostat-controlled) heaters can be used in bedrooms, where local codes permit.

This heater can also be installed in a manufactured (mobile) home, where codes permit, although it is not intended as a primary heating source. Ignition is by pilot/piezo, with an automatic shut-off and oxygen depletion sensor on all models. The 18-pound heater had a list price of $257 in December 2004.
