Lamp Shades: Glass Roses

Reviewed by:
Rosemary Thornton
Reverse painting on glass lampshades was popular in the 19th century. This domed, glass shade is a modern reproduction of this century-old craft.

The handpainted roses (painted in reverse) create a beautiful image when the light is illumined. The artwork is from an original design of the Handel Lamp Company (Meriden, Connecticut).

Choose from 16", 14", 12" and 8" diameter shades. The manufacturer recommends adding heat caps and aperture rings when installing the shades.

  • Roses Handel-Style Shade price range is $44 to $185 (April 2006).
