In Victorian times, lightning rod salesmen told their customers that these glass balls (with their metal collar), would shatter with a lightning strike. That was the sign for the homeowner to inspect ground wiring.

These reproduction balls can be used for their pretty looks or for their same historic purpose.

Choose from 12 bright colors, such as amethyst, cobalt blue, and plum.

Glass balls with copper or aluminum caps are 4-1/2" in diameter.
