Paint Brushes: Sash painting made easy

Hate painting window sash? If so, perhaps you've never tried this task when using the right brush.

Wooster's "Ultra/Pro Firm Willow" brush is one of my own favorites for acrylic or latex paints. These brushes hold plenty of paint. And, when used properly, they ease the of drawing a crisp, sharp line -- an essential skill when painting windows.

These are a tapered brush with bristles made from a combination of nylon and polyester, and a long-lasting maple handle. They are available in widths ranging from 1" to 3 1/2" -- but for painting sash, you'll probably be best served by a 2" or 2 1/2" brush. Wooster brushes are available online and at many paint stores. Expect to pay $10 to $15 (September 2004) depending upon the width.
