Cordless reciprocating saws keep getting better and better, with models that match the stud-demolising power of the corded versions. The 18-volt model from Bosch goes a step further, allowing users to choose between short (3/4 inch) stroke lengths for plumbing and electrical work, and long (1-1/4) demolition strokes. A rubber boot and soft rear grip make use less bone-jarring. Blade changes are quick and easy with a tool-free changing system. An extra battery is handy to have, especially if you have a lot of demolition to do. The saw is offered in a kit with two batteries and a one-hour charger for around $350 (March 2005).
