Downdraft built-in exhaust fans provide kitchen ventilation without the traditional (and sometimes) bulky vent hoods. When not in use, this unit slinks down to countertop level and disappears.

With its compact design, this downdraft vent can be installed in as little as 2" of flat space behind your cooktop and can be used on island or wall applications. When open, the chimney has a height of 9-1/2." All exposed surfaces are stainless steel.

This vent is offered in 30", 36" and 48" widths, and comes with a 500 CFM (cubic feet per minute) fan, but can be upgraded to 600 - 1200 CFM. Price is about $650 (November 2004).
