Screen Doors: Moon over door

Reviewed by:
The Old House Web
You might expect doors from a company named "Old Goats" might be a bit unusual. And you'd be right. The Montana company hand builds screen doors toorder with a level of craftsmanship not found in mass-produced doors. Initially geared up to produce custom doors for western log cabins, the company now produces doors in a variety of styles, from Craftsman to Victorian to rustic. Those inclined to whimsy might choose a hand-carved or cut-out door featuring a moose, bear or other beastie, or the moonlit treescape shown in the photo. The pictured door is available in poplar ($800) or mahogany ($900) in either 32" x 81" or 36" x 81" (January 2005). Doors are built with mortise and tenon joinery, waterproof glues and hardwood pinning to ensure solid joints that will last a lifetime.
