At its lowest setting, the Astoria pellet stove will provide 68 hours of continuous heat before refueling. The manufacturer says the stove makes the most of its compressed wood pellet fuel by turning itself off when the room reaches a desired temperature, then back on as the temperature drops.

The Astoria offers an adjustable feed rate of between 1.7 lb. and 5.5 lb. of fuel per hour from a 115-lb. capacity hopper. With an output of up to 45,100 BTUs per hour, the stove can heat up to 2,250 square feet of floor area, according to the manufacturer.

It weighs 250 lb. and comes with a remote control wall thermostat, a black door and a black top trivet. In October 2004, the Astoria cost about $2,300.
