Tin Ceilings: Perennially Popular

Reviewed by:
Rosemary Thornton
Originally painted white and intended to give the appearance of an ornamental plaster ceiling, tin ceilings were popular from the mid-1800s to the mid-1900s. Now they've found favor once again.

Today, these 2' by 2' tin ceiling panels are offered in five stock colors, or you can opt for a custom color.

Ceiling prices are $35 - $60 per square foot (on average) and the price includes estimating and consulting, planning, design and installation. The price drops to about $20 to $40 (per square foot) if you do the installation yourself.

Most of the panels can be affixed to plaster, furring strips or a specially-designed grid.
