Toilets: A throne of your own

Reviewed by:
Rosemary Thornton
You can be king of the throne with this toilet patterned after the French Merovingian style (from the 8th Century). The throne has full armrests and an arched top.

The seat back is inscribed with a French poem that reminds users to close the lid when they're done. Not that anyone would be likely to forget. A musical chime sounds when the lid is raised, and then a verbal recitation of the poem begins. And every time you flush, a bell rings.

Made with ash and hand painted earthenware, the price for this portentous potty is around $10,000.(March 2005).
