Toilets: Low-tank toilet

Reviewed by:

The Lydia is a new low-tank toilet that would look at home in any early 1900s bathroom. Unlike the vintage toilets it was modeled after, this fixture fits on standard modern plumbing.

Of course, many folks hang onto their old toilets for their 5-gallon flushing capacity as much as their looks. But the manufacturer claims that the Lydia's innovative innards flush cleanly with 1.6 gallons of water.

Features like the rolled rim tank, keyhole base, branded bowl and porcelain "press" lever are reproduced from a 1910 Pacific-style water closet. Trim options are chrome, polished brass or polished nickel. Price is $795 plus $95 shipping (October 2004).
