Whole House Fans: Fresh Air

Reviewed by:
Rosemary Thornton
Bring in fresh air quickly with this whole house fan. These large-bladed, two-speed fans can reduce air conditioning costs by drawing in cool air at night. The steel housing has a powder coat finish.

In most cases, the fan can be installed without disturbing attic joists. Choose from a variety of sizes, good for 1,500 square feet (24" square) to 2,300 square feet (36" square).

Options include belt-driven or direct drive motors, thermostatic controls and/or humidstat controls.

  • Whole house fans start at $1,000, installed (December 2005).
