Rob, I've often wondered the same as you about older buildings in my hometown. An afternoon visit to the local historical society turns up pictures of beautiful architecture from the gilded age, our area's most prosperous period. Of course, most of those buildings are gone. Interestingly, the J.C.Pe...

Hey Matt, Great catch!! I know how you feel about where you will be living. I'm originaly from Lima and my current old home is in Minster. I just love western Ohio & eastern Indiana. Now that I know what your house looks like you know I'll be knocking on your door this summer on my way through Napol...

Can't really say much about Wal mart except it's where I go at 2 am when I'm out of masking tape, paint brushes, caulk, or whatever. Who else is open at that time?? As for Home Depot or Lowes, I enjoy browsing their stores with my wife just to get ideas. We've met alot of new friends amoung the isle...

I once had an older lady working for me who worked at Burger King #3 in Miami when it first opened bac...

Not old house related, but, we purchased a newer home about 10 years ago where the previous owner died of a drug induced overdose in the master bedroom. This was in an upscale community and was quite a surprise to us. A couple of months after closing we were paid a visit by the local district attorn...

Interesting that you mentioned the show & that particular episode. I told my wife while watching it that it was sad to see someone with so little regard for her ancesters possesions. Anytime my mother, 75 years old, wants to throw something away, I grab it. I gotta garage full of "grab its". When my...

Interesting query. My family home, built in 1908, sits on property that has been in my family since they arrived from Germany in 1832. The original structure that they built upon arrival abuts the Miami-Erie Canal in Ohio. It. too, is still standing. Family lore has it that my great-great grandparen...
