Monstera has holes or slits in the leaves. Grow the plant in a medium light intensity. In brighter light, provide shade from summer sun. Keep the soil evenly moist in summer but drier in winter. Ideal temperatures are between 60 and 85 degrees. Monstera produces aerial roots which may be trimmed off. The perforations in the leaves will not develop when light is inadequate. Split leaf philodendron will need staking.

Propagation is by stem cuttings.
